End of Day: Best Practices

We recently added a new feature to the G1 platform to better facilitate the process of closing your cash registers. With this latest update, we now provide the ability to prevent a cash register from being closed, if there is an open order with payments applied. 


Closing your register via G1 Desktop

  1. Navigate to the Orders tab, then the Cash Register page.
  2. If you attempt to close your register with payments applied to an open order, you will receive a warning banner.
  3. The warning banner will list the order numbers with a link to the Manage Orders view. Additionally, a maximum of 5 order numbers can be listed within the warning banner.
  4. Once all orders are closed (or payments unapplied), you will be able to close your register.

Closing your register via G1 iPad app

  1. To close the register, click on the “gear” icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Click the “Cash Registers” button on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. Click “Close Register” under the selected register.
  4. If you attempt to close your register with payments applied to an open order, you will receive a warning banner.
  5. Unlike G1 desktop, the warning banner will not list out specific order numbers.
  6. To find the open orders with payment applied, you can navigate to “My Orders” within the app to view open orders. Please note: On Version 11.0.8 and above, you can also navigate to previous days to view open orders.
  7. Once all orders are closed (or payments unapplied), you will be able to close your register.
